Dear group,
If, like me, you've got older computers around which may not be y2k-able,
what follows should be helpful.
It will address BIOS, Windows clock, and applications/spreadsheet questions.
McAfee, the Virus folks, have created just the tool we need - and an
evaluation copy is free.
Step 1:
Go to the link below and test your system on line at the Ziff Davis site.
You'll know if a flash if any part of your hardware is not y2k ready. I
learned, as expected, that my BIOS was not able to handle dates after
1/1/2000.

Step 2:
I'd suggest everyone go to the next link and download the program "Download
Genie". This little utility allows files which have failed in the process
of download to begin from where the download was interrupted instead of
from the beginning.
This is a good one to have in the case of the McAfee "2000 Toolbox" because
the download site is very busy.
Download Genie site link is next. Since it's so long, you may have to past
it into your browser in two steps.

Step 3:
Go to the next link to read a description of "2000 Toolbox" and to begin
downloading the evaluation copy. The evaluation copy fixed my BIOS in
thirty seconds.

Since all of the above is very clearly documented on the sites, please
don't follow-up with me if you have questions.
Best of luck to all,
Bill
