I, Pete like you and Earl have used Ensign www.ensignsoftware.com and what I
found was a very nice program. It certainly for the money beats TS. The
tech support provided by the owner is something that every software company
should emulate. The software is vary capable indeed, however. It suffers
the same problems that many programs have. One being the data feed is still
completely maintained by the user and not the vendor. Once while running
Ensign I needed paste in tick data and I requested it on their maillist a
day or two latter I did receive a message from the owner offering me data.
I need to have a little more confidence in how I can receive repair data on
a more timely basis. Also no historical data is provided or available for
Ensign this is a big must for most traders who rely heavily on intraday
data. Now besides the data issues of the program. The programming
capabilities of the proprietary code is very obscure and drove me nuts, I
hate having to rely on the owner of the software for even the simplest piece
of code. The only excellent documentation on the code is in the mind of the
creator, and I hate having that dependency. Also to my surprise if you
create a chart that has many studies on it, you must modify the entire code
to change something. The system, indicators, ect are all jumbled up into
one very large piece of code, very confusing and "NOT" user friendly at all.
Not to take away from an otherwise great program and the owner who is a
great guy in my opinion. His program is just to propriety for my taste and
the data problems are a big concern.
