DialData is pretty good but sort of on the expensive side. For 2 years
stocks, indexes and fundamentals it is $38.00 per month via the Internet
download. If you download too early after the markets close, sometimes you
will get bad data for some symbols. It may take until about 7 or 8pm EST
before it is corrected by DialData. This is not that common but does happen
every now and then. I would have to say that I am satisfied with the service
though.
I have been downloading EOD using the scheduler of TS4 and TS2000
automatically via a cable modem. It really does not matter how many symbols
I download; it is extremely fast. For example: SP4 for NT 4.0 is 32MB and
takes about 7 or 8 minutes to download.
You can set the scheduler of TS2000 to download automatically without a nag
screen "reminding" you that you need to be connected to the Internet before
you can download from the Internet with the following addition to your
registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Omega Research\Downloader\Messages
Just select Edit | Add Value from the Edit menu. Value Name should be
"Internet" without the quotes and set the string to "OFF" without the
quotes. These were case sensitive in TS4's or_dman.ini file, so it is
probably still the same in TS2000.
Key Name: Software\Omega Research\Downloader\Messages
Class Name: <NO CLASS>
Last Write Time: 4/21/99 - 10:22 AM
Value 0
Name: Internet
Type: REG_SZ
Data: OFF
For TS4, just add this to the or_dman.ini:
[Messages]
Internet=OFF
This works great for "hands off" automatic downloading and chart scanning
when you have an established Internet connection.
However, I will be canceling DialData soon if the trail period for DTN Real
Time satellite feed works out OK.
