Spreadsheets and OLE Links (Simple Question)

Over the course of the last year - it has become apparent to me that
unless the state of charting software changes drastically in the next
few months - I'll be "rolling my own" a lot more in the future.  So I
decided that it's time for me to learn how to use a spreadsheet.  I have
Excel - and managed to write my first simple application this afternoon
(only snapped at my husband 4 times).

It seems from some of my manuals that it's possible to create something
called an OLE link so I can import data from other programs (like
Metastock) into Excel.  The question I have is - if I learn how to
create these links - is it possible to create the link in such a way
that the data in Excel will update automatically whenever I download new
data into Metastock?  The manuals I have weren't really clear on the
subject.  (I'd like to know that what I'm trying to do is possible
before I spend a lot of time learning how to do it).  Robyn
