A few general comments re your questions in both posts. I've never been a
big fan of EW, largely because I've felt a large part of it was theoretical
and only a small part was useful for actual trading. What I considered to be
the useful part (about 10%) seemed to be embodied in the various fib
retracements and projections which I've used for many years. I obtained
WinWaves 4.x from the developer several years ago - the charts were pretty
but I never quite figured out how to make money with it. Some weeks ago, in
the process of looking for a Signal On-Line replacement, I evaluated
QCharts/QFeed (www.quote.com) and in the process of evaluating QFeed I
followed the links to the various packages which are QFeed compatible
including AdvGet Real-time ($2500 annual lease), Dynamic Trader -intraday
updates- ($1700) and Fibonacci Trader Real-time ($950). Right off the bat,
it didn't take too many seconds to figure out that the significantly reduced
monthly cost of QFeed vs SOL would about pay for any one of these packages
in short order while eliminating all hassles with data and data refresh. For
reasons of suitability to my personal trading style, I ended up purchasing
Dynamic Trader (www.dynamictrader.com). Low and behold I was almost
immediately immersed in Robert Miner's EW methodology - a very practical
approach to identifying the tradable part of EW and discarding the rest.
There is a great deal more to DT than EW. DT encompasses an entire trading
methodology which requires the trader to expend considerable effort in
learning and applying the techniques and using the software - I expect it
will require at least six months of full-time use to begin to master the
methodology. The software is a very nice EW/Fib/Gann tool-set, not a plug
and run EW trading system like AdvGet purports to be (although I doubt it
can be used effectively without considerable study). At some point, when I
feel I've mastered DT methodologies, I may take a look at AdvGet to see if
it can add something to my trading. One other comment: regardless of the
tool set, application of these techniques requires considerable thought and
consideration - I would never jump into AdvGet real-time without first
learning the ropes with AdvGet EOD, which can by the way, import hourly
intraday data. Last I heard, AdvGet EOD licenses could be legally
transferred upon payment of a nominal fee which makes purchasing a resale
practical.
