About neural nets

Sorry for not including a copy of the last message asking about neural
nets, whether they work, etc. I bought copies of most of Mark Jurik's
stuff and a Braincel to go along with it. I enjoy this stuff, but I'm a
bit of a computer and math geek. Mark has been great about supporting
his product and quick to fix bugs encountered. I found myself using
Braincel for other things outside of TradeStation almost as much if not
more than within TradeStation.

But, work has been busy and to be honest, I haven't had time or given
time to useing these products much the last few months.

The only time I remember having anything crash my session (not my
system) was when I was doing something wrong in my calls to the neural
net--I believe I was causing the net to be reopened every tick or block
of time instead of once at the beginning. But, Mark was very helpful in
recommending a way around this.

Braincel by itsself is somewhat useful, but neural nets are not usually
well made for time series predictions, and it helps to have some extra
preprocessing tools for cutting out noise, for deterining what input
variables are significant, and getting some sort of harmonic analysis,
or perhaps just getting a good idea when you are and are not trending.

Does it make money? Well, if you have time to spend on it, I would
expect that it would make money, but unfortunately, my wife has done
most of the trading while I have been at work. I'd much rather work
with these tools, though, then without them. Just my personal
preference.
