I felt the same way as you when I first joined the List, Debra. I soon
concluded that it is not possible to impose a posting discipline - efforts to
do so only add to the clutter. I also found, after struggling for a while,
that I can judge pretty well by topic and author whether a post is worth
opening. I now open perhaps 20% of the posts and around 3-5% prove useful. But
I value highly that small fraction.
