Given the rate of change in the industry, I think purchase is a very poor
investment. Month-to-month rental provides the vendor with a strong
incentive to serve the customers and keep the product current and of sound
quality. Had I signed up with Signal for a year contract instead of
month-to-month, I wouldn't be able to switch to quote.com. Had I
purchased Ensign instead of renting it for $29/month I would have to write
off the cost before switching to another product. Had I signed up with
quote.com on yearly contract, I would be unable to change if Mark or someone
else comes up with a better feed or software.
