For cash balances, it's always easier to have them send
you the check directly. So, if there's a small balance
left with LFG, ask for a check.
Then again, if you want to keep the LFG account open,
let the cash sit.
The whole transfer process is a back office/back office
deal. They book entry the positions across and simply
send a check to the other firm for the cash balance.
