Re: TS2000 Upgrade from previous build

Just to get through the learning curve, reduce frustration, minimize
insomnia, definitely start with fewer symbols. Talk about being slow as
mollases on a 400MHZ PII with 132Meg. There appears to be some basic logic
faults in data handling, incomplete or lack of data on the HistoryBank CD,
and in the HistoryBank.com. Even with the user configurable filters, an
import from the CD starts with reading all the symbols on the CD rather than
doing a "go fer" the symbols in the portfolio. After fiddling with this
Global Server for 24 hours it appears an immense amount of user time could
have been saved by some sequential logic changes in the program. Even if
the user created portfolio is 76 symbols of popular indices only 15 were
found on the CD. And of course you eventually find out that the "complete"
CD only has end of day data and if you mistakenly try to download years of
tick or one minute data from the HistoryBank....well, try starting over by
File, Stop download. That was the first time Ctrl, Alt, Del had to be used
on this Win98 machine. Yes, it froze the Omega application. Things like the
basic NYSE breadth information was not there nor on the HistoryBank.com. A
download from HistoryBank.com appears to start with a passthrough of your
entire list to see if the symbols and data are there, usually resulting in
"Category Message" "Event 10" for many missing symbols under the Event Log
in the GS. Then if it makes it through this pass it repeats it for the
download of data that is there and you will eventually see the
"HISTORYBANK.COM Download (XX% completed) - Downloading ...as pictured in
item 4 on page 15 of "Trading with ProSuite2000i" manual. This is quite
different than a download of AIQ TESPro data from say Telescan or DialData
that is done in a flash. The shocker comes when you get some data to make a
chart with and find out it looks the same as TS4. You begin to wonder, do I
need this upgrade? $800 for TS and OpStation, well that is what new fully
functional software should be going for, not an upgrade. Then you wonder
how could anyone pay full price in the x,xxx category and you ask yourself,
"Do I need a probability map? Do I need an activity bar? Are there any
EasyLanguage advantages beyond what is in TS4? What is the scanning
capability? What is Radar Screen? Do I have Radar Screen? So if you made
it to page 61 you go looking for the RS200i icon and don't see one. Then
you wonder why the salesperson did not explain the differences in the
Platinum and the Standard upgrade. The email to sales a month ago was never
answered so the assumption was ProSuite was just that, a Suite, now it
appears a room is missing in the Suite. Since when does an upgrade mean
less. After 12 years of trading and being an admitted software junkie, this
is the first pkg that has a good chance of being returned for failing to
live up to the "billing" on multiple accounts. This is better than taking a
sleeping pill. Thankyou MB.
