Re: One Screen Two Computers- OmniCube/OmniView

Belkin (www.belkin.com) also sells OmniCube and OmniView for sharing a single Mouse,
Keyboard and Monitor between two or more computers. In my case each computer has it's
own monitor, but I want to use (or share) a single Mouse and Keyboard between both
computers. I have OmniCube (cost about $90 plus shipping) and it is supposed to switch
computers from a keyboard hotkey or with a switch on the OmniCube. The advantage is it
gives you a more compact computer work area.

I say OmniCube is supposed to switch because I haven't installed my OmniCube yet. I
found out special mouse/keyboard extension cables are required from Belkin.
Specifically OmniCube requires keyboard/mouse extension cables with male connectors on
each end however the standard extension cables are female at one end and male at the
other.

I first saw Belkin's OmniView at CompUSA. I'm not sure about the difference between
OmniCube and OmniView , except I know OmniCube allows for only two computers, and OmniView
is more expensive (in $110 range I believe). Both are available from online stores.
OmniCube supports up to 1600 x 1200 resolution. I support Jim Hill's statement about
getting heavily insulated video cables because you are essentially extending your video
cable.
