I've spent the better part of a few days trying to figure out the status of
Metastock data (and other data formats) vis-a-vis TS 2000 - and I can't. Perhaps
a more technically oriented person here can help me.
Omega claims that TS 2000 can't read the new Y2K compliant Metastock data
allegedly because Metastock won't disclose the particulars. I could understand
that - except for one thing. My old version of SuperCharts can read the data.
How is it possible that my SuperCharts can read the data - but TS2000 can't?
Note that when I read the data - I can read a file from 3/1/1900 to 2/29/1999.
If I start a new file on 3/1/2000 - I can read that file too. I can't read a
file which begins before 2/29/99 and ends after 3/1/2000. I assume that's a
problem with SuperCharts not being Y2K compliant (maybe it's the leap year Y2K
problem) - not with the Metastock format - although that assumption could be
incorrect.
All of this sounds very academic - but my primary concern is that *if* I decide
to change data vendors and change the format of my existing data - and buy TS2000
- that perhaps it isn't truly Y2K compliant and that I'll have problems starting
in 2000. So any observations - ideas - thoughts would be appreciated. Robyn
