I only have time for a brief response right now. I use tic bars to confirm
minute bar signals in the spoos. My experience has been that any chart
that removes the time horizon (tic charts) produce much more violent
indicator responses when compared to time-based charts. The 'traditional'
levels of oscillators are not reliable, if that's what you use, so be careful.
Tic charts are like a completely different set of data for the same
contract, even if the # of tics is matched to the time-based chart (hint,
hint, wink, wink). For me and my style of trading, they are invaluable for
use as confirmations.
