Al:
I don't want to be a spoilsport...but here goes. Who pays $12.50 for
*clearing*?? I understand you don't wish to incur any costs for a 'free' offer,
but again, **$12.50**???
For those of you that don't know about costs, clearing costs are basically fixed
costs. That makes up a very small portion of the brokerage bill you pay. Add in
exchange fees, again tiny, and you have a small part of your round turn fee. On
top of that, your broker then adds the rest, which pays for phone lines, errors
[yours and his if he has to eat it], rent, advertising, etc.
Before Al goes nuts here, I'll just add that I pay just a touch over half his
'free' rate for my futures commissions, per round turn, all in. Don't get me
wrong--most of you won't be able to go find an account and get a rate that low,
and I'm not even arguing that Al's $12.50 plus $.20 for the NFA is a bad
deal...I just want him to be upfront and honest with all of you. IF he pays
someone $12.50 to clear the trades he gets from your business, he needs a better
clearing house. If he says instead that he normally charges $35 per round turn
all in and wants to give the first five a discounted rate--say, $12.70 per round
turn, and that charge is so he can cover his costs...that's ok. But don't charge
$12.50 and say you're giving the first five free trading. Sorry, that's wrong.
And by the way, why are you advertising on this list? We don't allow blatant
advertising. Please don't do this again, Al. And could you lighten up the bottom
of your messages please? All the advertising junk gives us all a headache.
Best,
Tim Morge
