Chartscanner

Problem:

Chartscanner performs stock screening from a known set of symbols.  This
means that one must somehow know ahead of time a sub-universe of symbols
to screen (and there is a much larger potential universe that one could
scan from but you don't get that in this game because the Chartscanner
universe is limited in Supercharts and Tradestation).

So the question becomes, what strategy do traders use to collect a
candidate universe?  Scan industry groups first (come to think of it...
are there symbols for industry groups???)?  Or just use a known set of
assets with known properties?

This isn't a problem for Telescan users... big problem for everyone else.
I wonder what everyone else does.
