Last week I too finally threw in the towel on Telescan after many years of
subscription, and for exactly the same reasons. And I too have been
wondering what I was going use to take the place of Prosearch - which is
probably the only really useful part of Telescam (oops! Of course I men
Telescan, Inc.)
Anyway, here are the two areas I'm exploring at present:
1. Schwab. I maintain an IRA there an this gives me web access to their
"Analysts Center" which includes a feature that is similar to Prosearch,
although much more limited in scope. Think there are probably only 25-30
data categories through which one can instruct the applet to search.
2. AIQ TradingExpert. I collect EOD data on about 5000 ticker symbols each
night. This takes about 35 min on a P-II 350 MHz machine with a 56 k modem.
The present incarnation of TradingExpert includes a module called Expert
Design Studio (EDS) which gives the user a rudimentary ability ability to
design, test, and fine-tune trading "systems." EDS also includes a much
more useful reporting function which screens your AIQ data (both technical
and/or fundamental) using your own EDS developed criteria and produces
customized reports for later perusal.
