Refresh Data

Omega had to recently close down it's main office because of the hurricane.
They wrote in .txt files at their ftp site and posted to this list a message
that they were going to provide the tick data files for 980924 and 980925 at
a future date-they are also missing the index refresh data for 980923. This
refresh data has not been posted yet. A part from all the other previous
tick files with missing data etc. is anybody else out there wondering what
would be so hard about securing another source for tick data-say from a
reliable company that has it's own backup power source so it's data
collection is unaffected by power outages or that collects data from two or
more locations so it's collection is unaffected by weather-and then
converting it's files into the various other formats i.e. signal, bmi,
FutureSource etc. in order to maintain a complete and accurate archive of
tick data for current and future purchasers of TS? A company like TickData
Inc. comes to mind.
It just blows my mind to think that, after you have paid so much to
purchase RT data from the vendors, you have to buy the same data over again
to fill in any gaps etc. because almost none of the data vendors maintain
an archive and, because of the weather down in Miami, Omega's archive is so
incomplete.
