we'll see. that's one "future" i won't try to predict

[ I think the challenge is equally difficult on any platform. I think
it is probably easy to create a basic charting program...but then add
-ability to import data from a variety of sources -100 indicators
-ability to test a system -a language for non-programmers to write
code-order warnings in real time and the million other features and
the project grows exponentially ]

commercial yes, private no. a lot of the basic trading functions you
mentioned have been programmed into VC++ and VB toolkits. the success
of any private trading platform is keep it simple in the beginning and
expand fuctionality in gradual steps. i don't plan on having any
"talking heads" or other stupid expert commentary bells and whistles.
the basic challenge of getting something to work under linux should be
sufficient challenge in the beginning.

[ Again, he still is vaporware. He may release a great product, but he
will have a hard time making a living at it. There are about 20 people
from his group that will buy is software...then what? Then he has to

define vaporware. tradelab's core module has been finished for over 4
months, may be longer. the charting module is close (within 30 days)
to release. if tradelab is vaporware, then so it ts 5, wouldn't you
agree?

and afaik, there's hundreds of orders pending based on nothing more
than word of mouth and bb's website hits. so it looks like "build it
and they will come," is not only accurate in tradelab's case, it's
also prophetic. i think bb is more concerned about the tidal wave of
orders about to hit his company than he is about marketing products
right now.

and, oh yeah, bb's living well enough right now off trading profits
and software royalities. tradelab is a labor of love or hobby for
uncle bob; kinda like what i'm thinking about doing under linux. but
i'm no uncle bob.

see ya
