Carroll,
In every discussion or comments I have heard about data feeds, BMI is
unanimously considered better (more reliable and accurate) than Signal. That
is also the reason given as to why DBC bought BMI. Fortunately, DBC didn't
buy it to bury it. What I don't understand is why they don't ditch Signal
and just concentrate their efforts on making BMI even better. Maybe the
answer to that is geo-political inside the company -- DBC/Signal is in the
Bay Area, DBC/BMI is in Salt Lake City.
Bottom line Carroll, dump Signal and get BMI, or if you are going to upgrade
to TS5, evaluate DTN, since it is much less expensive, and supposedly
reliable, too (second hand information).
FWIW,
Neil

| Subject: DBC Signal Data Outages
|
|
| Mr. Johnson -
|
| I'm sorry to bother you again, but the problem of Signal
| data outages is
| increasing and is approaching an intolerable level.
|
| I would like to get a detailed, technical explanation of the
| cause(s) of
| these outages and of the measures being taken by DBC, if
| any, to avoid
| reoccurrences in the future. The time for renewal of my
| subscription is
| approaching and I must decide if I wish to continue with DBC.
|
| I feel that I will need to speak directly with a technician
| knowledgeable in these areas if I am to get a full understanding -
| having you or a designate act as a conduit to relay the
| information to
| me from someone else will almost certainly not work. So, will you
| please either give me a direct telephone number of someone who can
| discuss this matter with me, or have such a person give me a call at
| (949) 586-5673?
|
| This morning data on S&P futures was out from 7:01 a.m. PDT
| until 07:24
| and then intermittently until 07:35. Also, the DJIA was out
| from 06:42
| until 07:01, from 07:28 until 07:32, and from 07:36 until 07:43. A
| check with my broker (using CQG) during the S&P outage confirmed that
| the S&P was still trading and he was receiving data. If his
| service can
| receive and distribute the data, then DBC should be able to
| do so also.
|
| Thank you for your help in this matter.
|
| Sincerely,
|
| Carroll Slemaker
