Jurik Research Discussion List

1 Jurik Indicators:

I purchased JMA last week. I've also just purchased VEL, CFB, and BrainCel.
I haven't yet performed backtesting that uses JMA. My (admittedly visual)
observation confirms the view expressed by others that Jurik's JMA is simply
smoother with less lag.

2 My story:

I'm a software analysis/design/programming consultant (I do Oracle database
design/development stuff) and a relative newbie (6 mos serious study)
vis-a-vis trading system development. I am in the process of developing a
set of components to be included within a day trading system that I am
building for myself. I'm only developing components now because I'm not at
all clear how one could possibly construct a day-trading system within 64k
in easy language and yet TS5 is close enough that I can wait to integrate
these components within a single trading system.

Trading system components concerned with (1) moving average (i.e., trend)
and (2) price oscillators are components within a few of the system
approaches that I'm working on. This is why I looked into the Jurik
indicators and decided to purchase some.

3 The new Jurik Research Discussion List

I'm clear that I'd benefit from participating in a discussion of "Jurik
Indicators" and their use. However, I don't think that this list is an
appropriate forum for such a discussion. I asked Mark Jurik the other day
about the current existence of such a discussion group. He said there isn't
one. He also said that he would be willing to participate in such a group
from time to time.

Therefore, I have established a free email discussion list "Jurik Research
Discussion List" on a commercial email list website. This email discussion
list is free because the the company hosting the list gets revenue from
including ads that will appear in each and every email message. This is
somewhat annoying but I'd like to determine the level of interest in this
discussion list before I decide whether to sponsor the list and hence remove
the ads.

Membership Principles and Caveats:

- The list will be governed by all those good citizen principles
associated with other lists. If you need more detail on what these
principles are, let me know.

- If you will feel offended by Mark Jurik joining in the discussion from
time to time and pointing out the value in his products then I suggest you
NOT join this list.

- If you will feel offended that ads will appear in each and every list
message until the list's value is clear and one or more people (perhaps me)
step forward to sponsor the list then I suggest that 1) you NOT join or 2)
you sponsor the list to remove the ads.

Having stated these caveats, I'm looking forward to seeing you on the new
list.

For the record: I have no business, personal, or other kind of relationship
with Jurik Research or any of its employees. The motivation for my
establishing this list is described completely in the "My Story" section of
this note.
