You can assign a custom icon to a favorite workspace so that when you click
the icon the workspace is opened. Or you can assign an analysis template to
an icon so that whenever you click the icon the analysis techniques that
make up the template are applied to the active chart. The following
sections provide directions for assigning analysis templates to a custom
icon and for assigning a favorite workspace to a custom icon.
Assigning Analysis Templates to an Icon

If you have one or more analysis techniques that you want to be able to
quickly apply to any chart window, you can create an analysis template to
contain all your favorite analysis techniques. You can apply the analysis
template to your chart as you create your chart, or you can assign the
analysis template to a custom icon and then add the analysis template to
your chart with the click of an icon.

Warning: When you add an analysis template to a chart, any
previously-applied analysis techniques are removed from your chart.

To assign an analysis template to a custom icon, use the following steps:

1. Use the View - Toolbars menu sequence to open the Toolbars dialog.
2. Click the Customize button to produce the Customize Toolbars dialog.
3. Use the Window type drop-down list to choose Chart Window.
4. Use the Toolbar type drop-down list to choose Standard.

5. Double-click on any icon in the Custom Palette section of the Customize
Toolbars dialog. This produces the Assign Icon dialog.

6. Choose Assign Analysis Template.
7. Click OK. This produces the Assigning Analysis Template dialog.
8. Select the analysis template you want to assign to the custom icon.
9. Click OK. You are returned to the Customize Toolbars dialog.
10. Click and hold down the mouse button on the icon and drag it into the
area where the current toolbar is displayed. Drag the icon into the
position you want.
11.When the icon is positioned where you want it on the toolbar, release
the mouse button. Once you have released the mouse button, the icon is
assigned to the toolbar.
12. Choose OK to accept the changes to the toolbar. You are returned to the
Toolbars dialog.
13. Click OK again to return to your active workspace. The custom icon will
appear on the toolbar.

Once you have assigned an analysis template to a custom icon, you can use
the icon quickly and easily. Simply open a chart to which you want to apply
the assigned analysis template and click the icon. The analysis techniques
in the template will be applied to the chart.

Assigning a Workspace to an Icon

When you assign a workspace to an icon, a click of the icon either opens
the workspace or brings it to the front (makes it active) if more than one
workspace is open at a time. To assign a workspace to a custom icon, use
the following steps:

1. Use the View - Toolbars menu sequence to open the Toolbars dialog.
2. Click Customize to produce the Customize Toolbars dialog.
3. Use the Window type drop-down list to choose Chart Window. (You
probably would want to assign a workspace to the Chart Window toolbar.)
4. Use the Toolbar type drop-down list to choose Standard. (You would
probably want to assign a workspace to an icon on the Standard Toolbar.)
5. Double click on any icon in the Custom Palette. The Assign Icon dialog
will appear.
6. Click the Assign Workspace radio button.
7. Click OK to produce the Assign Workspace dialog, which lists all
workspaces that you have previously saved.
8. Click on a workspace to highlight it.
9. Click OK. You will be returned to the Customize Toolbars dialog.

10. Drag the custom icon onto your selected toolbar. You can move the
custom icon to any position on the toolbar.
11. When you are satisfied with the position of the icon, release the mouse
button.
12. Click OK. You are returned to the Toolbars dialog.
13. Click OK again to return to your active workspace. The custom icon has
been added to the selected toolbar.

When you assign a custom icon to a workspace, the ToolTip displayed when
you move the mouse pointer over the icon is the same as the workspace name.
