It's a little more complicated than that... static ram cache, memory
interleaving, etc.

Same with the SCSI vs IDE debate. Pundits proclaim that one is better
than the other because of XYZ specification.

This gets at the heart of the matter. The only specifications and
benchmarks that matter are how fast will the *whole system* run the apps
you want to run.

SCSI offers the advantage of hooking up lots of drives without using
lots of IRQs but arguments can be made either way about the performance.
Modern IDE *systems* often outperform SCSI *systems*.
