Hello Frank,
since April 98 you can download a year 2000 fix for NT 4.0 at
ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/winnt/winnt-public/fixes/usa/nt40/hotfixes-postSP3/y2k-fix
Together with Office97 Service Release 1 the entire OS (so far as I know) and Office97 become year 2k compatible.
