At the end of last week my computer decided to make a mess of my
directory structure and who knows what else. (The hard drive seemed to
read/write continuously altho the light was not always on.) I ran
scandisk and it found many errors including cross linked files. In both
my omega directory and KR (knight-ridder) directories it found errors
which necessitated removing some files.
I put on the "rescue" CD which came with my HP computer which reloaded
windows. I reloaded Netscape (from a website) and after a bit of a
struggle got mail to work again.
I reloaded TradeStation (4, endofday version) from the CD I received
when I purchased it (tho this put me back to build 16, apparently).
When I click on the offline server, I get an error message "ssiact.386
is not loaded" in a window titled "or_sig.exe". The ssiact.386 file is
present in the windows\system directory. (I tried copying it to various
omega directories which did not help) The ssiact.386 is identified as a
"virual driver" by the properties button.
For my KnightRidder (Bridge) Techcharts and data downloading program, i
get two different messages: "cscmd.vbx" or "csinvis.vbx" not found. A
search of directories does not find these two files anywhere.
Stupidly, my backups were neither very complete or up to date. I
offloaded some of the data but never backed up the programs or the
system.
Any help greatly appreciated as i am currently almost "blind". I can
look at charts i can get on the internet now, but that's it.
