Re: DTB Exchange and GMT Offset

Ahhhhh,

I understand now what I didn't get.

- I saw that the LIFFE also had daylight savings time and was assuming a
non-fixed GMT. So the point here is that one can live in the same time zone
as Greenwich and spring-forward/fall-back for daylight savings time but GMT
time does not itself change. In other words, the DAX has a fixed hour
offset to symbols on the LIFFE (except for differences in dates of springing
forward/falling back) but has a variable relationship to GMT itself.

- I also was assuming, incorrectly, that the DAX intra-day data I got
from CQG had a US eastern time zone stamp on it. Called them this morning
and they confirmed that the time zone in the data file they sent was Chicago
time (why would they do this for data on a German exchange).

Well, I'm not time zone/daylight savings time crazy anymore.

Thanks a bunch, Hans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, I also sent this question to Omega tech support and received an answer
within 2 hours. Not that I "got" their answer. But they sure tried.

GMT never changes - i.e. has no SUMMER or WINTER time -

NOW, these days we have GMT +0200 time here in Germany (see also my
mailers time header), during "Wintertime" this shrinks to GMT +0100

hope that helped
