Re: Re TS 4.0 for sale

It seems that I have to remind you that Omega (and you) misuse the term "beta".
"Beta" refers to software which is feature complete and going through the
process of kicking out the bugs. Beta code is locked down for zero changes which
are not required to get the bugs out - it is not software which is undergoing
continuing development.

There is a term for such software and it is called "alpha". If in fact, Omega
has released beta software without the Y2K fix, then the users on this list have
every right to question the inclusion of Y2K compliance in TS5 ... perhaps that
is now scheduled for TS 5.5. Or perhaps Omega would rather its beta testers and
customers not realize that the software has not yet reached beta stage.

Personally, I don't really think many on this list question the claim that Omega
will get Y2K out the door for TS5x ... the question is when. With the promised
Y2K fix for TS4 behind the slipping release of TS5, every TS4 user on this list
has a right to be concerned with Y2K compliance ... especially since there are
now dozens of post Y2K expiration contracts which current Omega software is
unable to handle.

The fact that the beta is not currently y2k compliant means only what it
means:
Its a beta, and the purpose of the beta is not to test the behaviour of the
software in the next century.
The main problem is to verify if it works today (this is also very important).
Y2k is a stupid problem regarding to such a software.
Who could believe that Omega will not make it compliant when released as it
was announced to beta testers.
