The XCOPY32 command you referred to is probably this one that I posted:

C:\windows\command\xcopy32.exe c:\omega\*.* d:\omega\ /m /s /e
   
It works fine for copying regular files (such as a TS back-up) even with
long file names-- Although someone challenged the LFN issue, I have not been
able to find verification.
       
The problem you'll have is that it doesn't copy hidden or system files--
which means that your registry, as well as other critical system files won't
be copied.  
           
There is software available to do this, but it's designed for nerds only and
I wouldn't recommend trying it unless you're very familiar with DOS command
syntax.
   
Possibly someone else can recommend software that will copy an entire drive,
including hidden and system files.
