The easiest way to do it is setup a small network.  You can leave it running and transfer anytime without changing disks or hooking up parallel cables every time you want to transfer.  If this is not an option there are many others.  

Win95 has a native program that will allow you to transfer between parallel ports.  Both machines need Win95. This program is in the Accessories menu and is called Direct Cable Connect. There are third party programs that will also let you do that such as Laplink or PCAnywhere.  

If this is a laptop you are transferring to use the Win95 Briefcase.  You put certain files in the briefcase folder and then when you hook up the laptop and desktop together the files in the briefcase folder synchronize between the two machines.  

If you go the external drive method, I personally love my Iomega Zip drive.  It is easy to setup, lots of people have them so it is easier to share.  The only problem is to switch from machine to machine you have to turn the computer A off, take the zip drive off A, hook it up to B, and then turn the on B.

I would apreciate an opinion from the group as to the most convenient
way to transfer large data files from my desk top. I can do it in small
pieces with a floppy but that is not very efficient. Does anyone have
any experience with the I-mation floppy drive that can copy 100 MB at a
time? The price and reputation of the Iomega products has soured me on
that solution. Are there any direct cable transfer methods from one
parallel port to another?
