While in general that is true, if you are running two programs on one
computer through two serial ports, if you use all nine pins, you may find
you have both programs calling for more data or one trying to stop the data
flow to itself, thus hindering the other program's data flow. If you only
connect the 2 and 5 pins on the second cable, only the first cable and its
program will have control of the data flow; the second program will have a
free-flow stream that will not be interupted. For Tradestation and BMI, this
works perfectly.
