No. A T-Port is an external serial data buffer device, while the 16550
is a chip on your most newer serial cards which controls the serial
port. The T-port has a much larger buffer than your 16550 and will
buffer the data even while your computer is busy with other processes.
Thus a T-Port will provide you with less data loss.
