You are right on about the trade press. I have never seen a bad review of a
product, in either TASC or Futures magazine, that was also advertised
heavily in the magazine. The emphasis is definitely on the positive with
very short shrift given to shortcomings. In addition, the "awards" that
these magazines give out each year area also always given to these programs.
Coincidence? or self-perpetuating cycle!

Another recent development is the increasing use of proprietary and
expensive software and/or systems throughout many of the articles in these
magazines. Coincidentally, an add for just this product (often a TS add-on)
usually appears two pages later. Hmm.

It would be interesting to see what happens if TS really does gain a real
competitor. I just hope to God that the competitor takes out ads as large as
Omega's or the contest will be over before its starts.
