AutoDesk is, today a much larger company than Omega. However in the mid
80's, when I purchased AutoCad Release 2.0, the user base was quite small
and the product was evolving rapidly. Company revenues were in the low
millions. AutoDesk has remained a thriving business because they constantly
improved their product, maintained good quality control, provided excellent
support, encouraged the development of 3rd party products (e.g. object
templates, bill of material extraction, CADCAM, etc.) and built a close and
trusting relationship with their customers.I think there are many
similarites although the total market may not be as large.
