Before you run out and buy a PS2 mouse (which should solve the problem
but may not be necessary)...

Is your modem internal or external. Is it plug and pray or do you
jumper-set the IRQ and COM settings? Do you have ANY available IRQs?
Do you need help in finding what IRQs you are using?
If you have available IRQs, of the components you wish to use can any
of them be re-set to use these IRQs? You have a sound card. How many
IRQs does it use (some use as many as 3). Your sound card uses one IRQ
for playing sounds and another for recording them--how badly to you
need to record? When you disabled the modem-did you phyically remove
it or disable it through Win 95?
