My need to read my quote data which resides in Omega .ord files into my
32-bit Visual Basic trading programs has forced me to dechiper every format
beginning with SC 2.1 so I have direct knowledge of the formats although I
do not use all of them. To my knowledge, the only security data format which
has changed between 2.1 and 4.0 is the format used for stocks - 3 fields
were added to each quote record to provide room for dividend, earnings and
splits. If you want to know if the new downloader stock format will work
with the old SC software, use the new downloader to copy some stocks to a
test directory, Add it to the old downloader directory list, and see if they
work.
