Amibroker alone, does not provide the functionality of the very well
developed/high functionality monte carlo backtester Tradesim. Quite a few
users, use Amibroker/Tradesim in combination.
Metastock has strengths and so does Amibroker. I use a combination of
Metastock/Tradesim/Amibroker with good effect.
Also there is excellent support for Metastock if you include Roy's MSTT
newsletter (which is not free but the newsletter includes ideas that would
cost $1000's+ at seminars etc, and is at a fraction of the price of these)
and also the new Equis forum which is increasing in activity, and includes
the development of free dlls such as the forum.dll (and asi.dll is also
available for free from www.thedml.com).
Amibroker does have an incredibly active mailing list group, some very
generous contributors (like metastock) and a very involved developer of the
product, and it is also very lowly priced considering its functionality,
highly flexible language and awesome speed factor. This is all to the
programs credit.
Not all charting programs will meet your requirements, and some charting
packages will meet much more than other people requirements.

Dave

Metastock - slow, support "zip"
Amibroker - fast, support "active"
