RE: [EquisMetaStock Group] Trading ain't gambling, is it?

Roy,

I’m sure Super can take the barbed comments…he’s a grown-up.

For the record though, I too have every respect for anyone who, like you, takes so much time to share their thoughts and experiences. But “generosity” with information doesn’t always mean that it’s useful. Actually, my beef is not with Super - everyone is entitled to their opinion after all. I’m not looking to change his mind or have a dig at him personally. Rather, I was getting bored with all the verbal pats on the back and “I couldn’t agree more” comments from people out there who don’t seem to know why they agree or whether indeed there was an alternative point of view!

If it was just one post that I didn’t agree with then I could be a little less forthright in my approach, but the issues I addressed in that post were comments that I’ve seen repeated over and over in various forms (and by different people) in the past few months, i.e:

Ø       95% of traders lose money, so give up now.

Ø       Trading == gambling

Ø       “I’ve tested so many systems and read so many books that you should listen to me”

All of those comments I take issue with…and what’s more I think that everyone else should too. Not only because they are incorrect, misleading and/or plain arrogant but because some people here seem to be *actually believing it*.

As for Super’s other valuable contributions to this forum, I have nothing else to say except “thank you”

Andy

Hi Andy

You mean your grandmother hasn't subscribed yet :-)

As for Super's "sense-of-humour bypass", I've had the good fortune to meet many generous people on this and other MetaStock lists, including your good self, and in my opinion Super is at the top of the "generosity" list by a country mile. His obvious support of MSTT is merely the tip of the iceberg, and I'm sure there are a number of others out there that would say much the same thing. I don't always agree with him, but I still have a huge respect for him as a trader and as a person.

Kind regards

Roy
