You may be missing something ... very very minor.

 

When you hover the mouse over it, do you get that "cross" below the cursor? If not, then you are just copying the chart like a picture.

Damn, I wish I could replicate ur result. I have tried umpteen times to
paste to both Excel and Word using the Paste and Paste Special
commands. In either program, I only get the option to insert an object
or a picture enhanced metafile. In other words, I end up with an image
of the entire chart window.

Very frustrating.
