First, recognizing that this is a Metastock group - I don't want to get too 
far off base so I'll just do this one quick response and then drop it. As I 
recall, you can get a demo and play with it. That's probably the way to 
learn more if you're interested.

I've never really traded just using Mesa - for me it was more educational. 
Basically I agree with Jose below. In any case, see the attached example of 
Best Buy. In Feb and March last year it went into a cycle mode (light blue 
price bars), the phase was well behaved, the Signal to Noise ratio (not 
shown) was around 10 dB or better .... etc. Very tradable. Notice the period 
going from about 30 bars down to about 15 over this time.

Most of the time for me it's hard to see at the right edge. One thing I do 
like is just to watch the instantaneous trend line (notch filters the 
dominant cycle and smooths higher frequency components) and Kalman filter 
lines over the price bars.

Anyway, it's something you might want to look into.
