Your suggestion is an alternative way. I just find it is easier to
save ST_DATA.mdb with the new formulas, but these are personal
preferences. Either way gets the test formulas saved. In either case,
you have to perform the operation BEFORE you run extensive
tests--because if MS freezes, you are screwed.

Actually Equis support were the ones who showed me what the problem
was. Then I went to Microsoft Knowledge base and searched for
maxlocksperfile.

I certainly don't know for sure what causes the problem. I have 512Meg
of RAM, which I would have thought was large enough RAM for the small
files that cause problems for me. And I only assume that Win98SE is
part of the problem, because most of the knowledge base articles refer
to it.
