To put this issue into perspective, the reality is that if the rumor
turns out to be true and Equis does lock its EOD data format, little
will change for established MS users.
Support for MetaStock will continue here and elsewhere, for both pre &
post MS v10. The MetaStock user base is still massive - large enough
to support several forums - and will continue this way for some time.
And whilst AmiBroker is evolving into the ultimate coder's tool, I
don't see any professional *traders* taking it up, yet. The learning
curve involved with a new charting software takes valuable time away
from the original purpose for these tools: trading.
The thing to keep in perspective is that successful trading is
probably only about 20% charting platform, and 80% strategy/smarts/
attitude. You wouldn't hear Picasso or Dali having a heated
discussion over which paint brushes make a better painting.
Spend too much time delving in the details (charting tools), and miss
out on the broader picture. If trading is your ultimate goal,
MetaStock v8.01/v9.0 is fine.
