Version 9 allows you to put 6000 securities in one folder. Therefore you
need about 4 + folders to store your stocks in a more manageable form. Put
the stocks in alphabetical order in the folders and then you can easily find
them again.
Equis refuses to replace their 20 year old archaic database with a single
database so that you could access your stocks from any location in the
program. Other programs that I have looked at all have central databases,
such as Quotes Plus, Investors Fasttrack and others.

Subject: [Metastockusers] Organizing MetaStock
Hello Metastockusers,
MetaStock is a nice program but I find it a bit lacking in the way it
organizes things.
For example can I search for a certain symbol or name like INTC/Intel
Corp?
When I completed an exploration I put the results in Favorites.
But there I can't sort the hits on the directory the symbols where
originally under.
I keep about 20.000 stocks up-to-date.
Of that 20.000 I use a small portion (Explorer) for daily use.
It's quite hard to organize everything in a neat and flexible manner.
Are there add-ons that address this kind of problems?
