I had Amibroker from a while ago. I didn't like the feel of it and
actually prefer Metastock (still) for things like plotting data on the
main window chart. I have to agree though that afl is everything that
Metastock should be. I can now create the system I need.
BTW is there a way to plot buy/sell signals etc on the main chart as per
Metastock?

Suggest you take a look at the Amibroker TA product www.amibroker.com A
free 30 day trial is available. The formula lanaguage is very similar to
MS formula language but there are virtually none of the annoying
restrictions.
No connections with Amibroker other than very satisfied user. I still
use MS occasionally.
