Eero:
I presume you already know that RealTick is a direct access trading
platform available from Townsend Analytics, Ltd. More information is
available at www.realtick.com.
RealTick also realtime charting and has a number of standard
indicators built in. It includes four indicators from Welles
Wilder's Directional Movement system:
Plus Directional Movement (PDM)
Minus Directional Movement (MDM)
Directional Movement Indicator (DX)
Average Directional Movement (ADX)
Townsend Analytics includes the formulas for their implementation of
these indicators in the RealTick user's manual. You can download a
PDF version of this manual at http://www.realtick.com/v2_getpage.asp?
subnav=true&page=supp_help_manl.
I'm still working on comparing their formulas with Welles Wilder's
book, and at this point it does not look to me like RealTick
calculates these indicators strictly in accordance with Wilder's
original formulas. However, I've also seen a comment in another book
to the effect that Wilder's original concept has been modified by
other analysts, so maybe the RealTick indicators are someone else's
better idea.
As I said, I'm just trying to figure out how RealTick calculates
their ADX indicator so that I can program a custom MetaStock
indicator that matches the one available in RealTick, so I can test
systems which include this indicator.
I also sent a message to the group owner to see what's up with the
missing Wednesday and Thursday messages, whether they're missing for
everyone or whether I somehow set some setting so I can't see them.
