So to
solve the bug in the program that you just bought they have graciously offered
to take even more of your money to upgrade you to an even better program that
may or may not have additional bugs. Now that's marketing!! Any clue when you
may expect the ,maintenance release? this month? this year?

[Metastockusers] Metastock 8.0 EOD BugThe Metastock
people have acknowledged to me that there is a bug in Metastock 8.0 (EOD,
not Pro). I think it has to do with the use of the p variable in
system tests. For Vector Vest users, I was trying to test moving
average crossovers of the MTI against the NASDAQ Comp. I've included
my correpondence with them below, but you never know whether the person
you're talking to there has anything on the ball. Anyone have thoughts
about this?Sir, First I apologize for the wait. I
have been testing it and it looks like there is a bug in the program. I
reported this to our programmer so that they can test it . At this time, you
could upgrade to the pro version and I talked to one of our sales guys
(Tyson ) would would be willing to offer a better deal than the regular
upgrade.Call him at 1-801-270-3164 if that could be a solution, if not
you will have to wait until a maintenance released is
published. Thanks, Patrick -----Original

October 08, 2002 7:12 AM Subject: Attn: Patrick As discussed
yesterday, I am getting no long or short positions from the following system
test: Buy and cover statements:
fastema:=mov(p,opt1,e); slowema:=mov(p,opt2,e);
cross(fastema,slowema) Sell and short statements:
fastema:=mov(p,opt1,e); slowema:=mov(p,opt2,e);
cross(slowema,fastema) Happen to be testing the NASDAQ
Comp. To invoke the p array, I have highlighted another index which I
have on a chart of the NASDAQ comp which I have open during the
test. Testing from 1/4/99 to current date. Tried testing
only 100 periods as you suggested and still got no transactions.
Moving averages are optimized from 1 to 25 days in steps of two. The
default position size is used with percent of available equity equal to
1.0 (I'm supposed to enter that as a decimal--correct?). Default
interest rates, no commissions, long initial margin 100%, long
maintenance 0, short initial margin 150%, maintenance 150%, trade long
and short at realistic market price. Any thoughts?
Thanks Sam LevyTo
