Hi,
I dont know where to look for the limit
tests
this is an eample of optimization on the help files
for moving average:
With the Enhanced System Tester displayed, select
"My First System" and click the Edit... button.  In the four trading rules
we created in Step 2 - Create a System, replace the "25" with "OPT1" (for
optimization variable number 1).  2. Click the Optimization
tab.  The Optimization page appears.3.  Click OPT1 in the
list.4. Click the Edit button.  The Variable Properties dialog
appears.

We want to test the moving average from 10-periods
to 50-periods, by five period increments (i.e., 10, 15, 20, etc.).

5. Enter "Moving average periods" as OPT1's
description.  Type a Minimum value of 10, a Maximum value of 50, and a Step
value of 5 (as shown in the following illustration).6. Click
OK.7. Look at the Total Tests value at the bottom of the Optimization
Variables dialog.  This value shows the total number of tests (nine in this
case) that will be performed.  It's always wise to check this value after
editing the optimization variables, as it is very easy to create a system that
will generate thousands of tests.

8. Click OK in the System Editor dialog to
return to the Enhanced System Tester.

  8.0 System Tester ?

  Hi,

  Metastock 8.0 seems to be very
  interesting (<SPAN
  class=SubHeading2>Enhanced System Tester
  etc...).
  <SPAN
  class=SubHeading1>
  But while
  launching the System Tester in order to back-test
  hundreds of systems against thousands of securities (all at once !),
  does Metastock 8 allows you to optimize, at the same
  time, the variables (ie ; Moving average length) of your trading systems
  ?
  <SPAN
  class=SubHeading1>
  <SPAN
  class=SubHeading1>
  Are the
  number of tests still limited to a maximum of  32,000
  ?
  <SPAN
  class=SubHeading1>
  <SPAN
  class=SubHeading1>
  Any help
  apreciated ?

    Careful!

    I learned painfully
    with previous versions that it was necessary to use the organizer to export
    all indicators, explorations and systems to a temporary folder: After the
    new installation was complete,  to use the organizer to import these
    items. When a window comes up that asks if you want to overwrite, click on
    YES.

    John>John,you may try to first export your Expert
    Advisors from 7.2next, clean install MS 8.0,then re-import EA.I
    don't have MS 8.0 so I wouldn't really know, but, this issue used to
    comeup with every upgrade AFAIR.To make matters worse I hear there
    are serious differences in MS 8.0Metastock Formula Language so, worst
    case scenario, you won't be able to useyour old formulas (including EA)
    unless you re-write them so they
    arecompatible.HTH,Yarroll***<A
