Because they are not the same thing.
Indicators consist of various ways to plot studies on
a chart, technical indicators. For example, moving
average, Bollinger bands, etc.
The system tester allows a user to analyze how
indicators (one or more of them) that MS provides (and
also to add your own programmed indicators) and other
factors (such as price targets, stops, etc.) have
performmed in the past.
Your directory of systems are just examples that MS
provides to get you started and to try out. You then
can change the parameters, program new ones, combine
them, add other indicators, etc. to develop your own
trading system.

but one of my questons is still unanswered, why some
indicators do appear in system tester and some do not?
