  I am
  using 98 now but will be moving to XT later this year.

  TL
  :  first i would suggest considering going earlier to XP  (and PRO
  not the Home version,
  or
  else goto W2K) (i suppose XT was a mistype).
  <FONT face=Arial color=#008080
  size=4>         i am using W2K
  now for 1 1/2 year now very intensively daily : it is a world of
  difference
  <FONT face=Arial color=#008080

  (which i use both, although i am using W98 less and less)

  size=4> I am not sure if MetaStock is slow in real time from the disk
  writing or from the Security and Prev functions. The first would make a RAM
  disk worthwhile, the second would not.
  <FONT face=Arial color=#008080

  TL
  :  what i suppose is the disk writing (security and prev are a function
  of the software execution imho)
  <FONT face=Arial color=#008080
  size=4>        i am using a RAM disk
  in W2K (not for your realtime purpose but it is
  quick!)

  <FONT face=Arial color=#008080
  size=4>  Did a search for W98
  Ramdisk , suppose it is there somewhere but XP-pro with Ramdisk
  would solve a lot of
    your speed
  problems  (if other things like processor and HD capacity etc are
  ok).

      <SPAN
      class=390130217-12042002>I find that with MS Pro 7.22 and eSignal that MS
      runs very slowly and has a hard time keeping up. eSignal, on the other
      hand, is handling more data with no speed problems. I suspect that the MS
      problem is due to the very slow speed of writing to the hard
      drive.
