They are making two mistakes.
They have forgotten or never known the original and best purpose for estimating Central Tendency and Dispersion.
Their automatic selections for calculating these two values might be completely inappropriate to say nothing about misleading.
Many years ago, K.F. Gauss (the greatest mathematician that ever lived) discovered, if not the first, then certainly one of the most important BBWACOIs called the Normal or more correctly Gaussian curve. Its importance stems from its theoretical underpinnings which make it appropriate and applicable to an enormous number of physical processes.
