...and that your "my mstask.exe 
is outdated (7/12/1999)" actually referred to mstask.dll?

    My current version of 
    4.71.2195.1 shows a modification date of 5/4/2001 [as does the 
    version in in my sp2 files]. The one it replaced  shows a 
    modification date of 12/7/1999.
     
    Don't understand your "my 
    mstask.exe is outdated (7/12/1999)" vs. "I have SP2 and 
    i so had the file ".
