Do nothing. Leave them. They are probably old DLL's placed in backup folders.
MS does this when you upgrade certain programs. If you load your MS System
Information ("C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft
Shared\MSInfo\MSINFO32.EXE"), you'll see under "Software Environment > 32-bit
Modules loaded" you have only one loaded into memory. It should be the copy in
your "C:\Windows\System" folder. This copy should be your latest version:
6.00.8447.0.

Because I have upgraded from DOS 6.2, DOS 6.22, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, to
Windows 98, I probably have many old files in my Windows folders. Finding and
deleting the old unused files is difficult because you can accidentally erase a
required system file. However, I have a hidden partition containing a fresh
install of Windows 98 and the Windows folder sizes aren't that much different.
For anyone reading this, if you're not having any problems, you shouldn't modify
your system or delete files. Again, upgrade at your own risk. In fact, forget
this thread and destroy this email. This email will self-destruct in 30
seconds. ;^)
